14. How long or short can my mortgage term be?


Your mortgage must be paid off on or before your 65th birthday, so the maximum term is the length of time between taking out the mortgage and your 65th birthday. The shortest term available is three years for an offset mortgage and five years for a fixed rate or tracker rate mortgage.
