12. Are there any exclusions?

The main exclusions are:

Disability (ie Accident or Sickness)
  • Any condition for which you sought or received advice, treatment or counselling from any doctor during the 12 months immediately before the start date of your policy
  • Any condition which you knew about (or ought reasonably to have known about) at the start date of your policy
  • Self inflicted injuries, alcohol or drug abuse
  • Normal pregnancy or related conditions
  • Any condition of a mental or nervous origin including stress, anxiety or depression unless under the care of a consultant psychiatrist
  • Backache or related conditions unless supported by medical evidence.
Unemployment
  • Any of the exclusions above
  • If at the start date of your policy you knew you would become unemployed, or you had reason to believe that you might become unemployed
  • If you are made unemployed (or are told that you will be made unemployed) within 60 days of the start date of your policy
  • Unemployment which is voluntary or due to misconduct
  • If you have reached 65 years of age
  • If your work is of a seasonal, casual or temporary nature or unemployment is a regular feature of your work
  • Fixed term contracts (unless employed with the same employer for at least 24 months, with the contract being renewed at least once).
