Balance sweeping

If you have a current account and a savings, we can automatically transfer money from your savings jar (provided there is enough money in it) to your current account at the end of each day, if the credit balance in your current account falls below a level we agree with you.

The maximum that we will automatically transfer from your savings to your current account on any one day will be to maintain it at your requested level. However, if you have items due to be paid by cheque, direct debit or standing order, you will need to ensure that sufficient funds are available in your current account to cover the transaction(s). Balance sweeping does not occur until after these transactions are processed.

If you want to transfer extra money from your savings on a one-off basis (for example, if you have written a cheque for a large sum and think that you may be overdrawn), you can call us or move the money over the internet, using our online banking service.
