How to enlarge the text on your display
The following are the steps to increase the text size on your screen for some of the most common browsers and platforms. There are two common ways to do this:
- changing your browser settings to increase the text size
- changing the size and resolution of your screen
Follow the instructions below to increase the text size with the most common browsers: Internet Explorer 4 and 5, Netscape 4x.
MS Internet Explorer 4 & 5 on Windows
From the menu bar:
- select Tools (View in IE4)
- then Internet Options
On the General tab:
- select Accessibility in the bottom right
- tick the third box from the top to override the font sizes specified on our web pages
- then press OK on both dialogue boxes
You may notice the text size is larger after this. If you would like it larger still go to the View Menu and select Text size (Fonts in IE4).
From the submenu:
Netscape 4.X on Windows
From the menu bar:
- select the Edit menu
- then Preferences
- in the Category tree on the left, select Fonts
In the right side of the dialogue:
- select the topmost of the three options
- 'use my default fonts, overriding document-specified fonts'
- in the top part of the screen use the drop down lists to specify your preferred font and size
- press OK to implement the changes
Windows:
- from the start menu select Settings and Control Panel
- in the Control Panel window, select Display, and then select the Settings tab
- in the desktop area section of the Display Properties dialogue box, move the slider marker to the left. This will effectively increase the text size
- press OK to implement the changes
