3. What are the implications if I don't take ASU cover?

You can choose to take ASU cover with us. If you choose not to take ASU cover, please consider the implications of not protecting your regular mortgage payment:
  • you may not be able to pay your regular mortgage payment due to us, if you're unable to work due to a disability (ie, accident or sickness) or unemployment, which could lead to you falling into arrears with these payments to us
  • you may have to reduce your savings/other resources to cover your regular mortgage payment to us, in addition to any other costs incurred as a result of prolonged absence from work
  • as the level of state benefits available to those who are not in employment is decreasing and eligibility is not guaranteed, it is important that you do not rely on these benefits to meet your regular mortgage payment, if you're unable to work due to a disability (ie, accident or sickness) or unemployment.
